أعلنت منظمة الصحة العالمية اليوم الجمعة، أن جدري القرود لم يعد يمثل حالة طوارئ صحية عالمية، وذلك بعد تراجع مطرد في حالات الإصابة والوفيات في جمهورية الكونغو الديموقراطية وغيرها من الدول المتضررة.
ورفع مدير منظمة الصحة العالمية، تيدروس أدهانوم غيبريسوس حالة الطوارئ، عقب الاجتماع الفصلي للجنة الطوارئ التابعة للمنظمة والذي انعقد أمس الخميس، بشأن تفشي فيروس جدري القرود.
وأكد تيدروس في مؤتمر صحافي أنه قبل توصية أعضاء اللجنة برفع حالة الطوارئ الصحية العامة التي تثير قلقا عالميا.
وقال “يستند هذا القرار إلى التراجع المستمر في حالات الإصابة والوفيات في جمهورية الكونغو وفي الدول المتضررة الأخرى، بما فيها بوروندي وسيراليون وأوغندا”.
وأضاف المشؤول الأممي “بالطبع، رفع حالة الطوارئ لا يعني زوال الخطر ولا يعني توقف استجابتنا”، لافتا الى أن الوضع لا يزال يمثل حالة طوارئ في القارة الإفريقية.
وكانت منظمة الصحة العالمية أعلنت “حالة الطوارئ الصحية العامة المثيرة للقلق في العالم” في غشت 2024، بعد تفشي جدري القرود بشكل رئيسي في جمهورية الكونغو الديمقراطية.
