أفادت السلطات المحلية بعمالة فاس أنه وفي حصيلة أولية، لقي 19 شخصا مصرعهم، فيما أصيب 16 آخرون بإصابات متفاوتة الخطورة، في انهيار بنايتين (من 4 طوابق) متجاورتين، تقطن بهما 8 أسر، ليلة الثلاثاء – الأربعاء بحي المستقبل، المنطقة الحضرية المسيرة بمدينة فاس.
وفور إشعارها بالحادث، انتقلت السلطات المحلية والأمنية ومصالح الوقاية المدنية إلى عين المكان، لمباشرة عمليات البحث والإنقاذ، حيث تم العمل على اتخاذ كافة التدابير اللازمة، من ضمنها تأمين محيط البنايتين المنهارتين وإجلاء قاطني المنازل المجاورة، كإجراء احترازي لضمان سلامة السكان تحسبا لأي أخطار أخرى محتملة قد تهدد سلامتهم.
وأضافت السلطات المحلية أنه جرى نقل الأشخاص المصابين إلى المركز الاستشفائي الجامعي بفاس للخضوع للفحوصات اللازمة وتلقي العلاجات الضرورية، فيما تتواصل إلى حدود الساعة عمليات البحث لإنقاذ وإسعاف أشخاص آخرين يحتمل وجودهم عالقين تحت الأنقاض.
