أعلن الرئيس الأمريكي، دونالد ترامب، أمس الأربعاء، أن السفير الأمريكي في تركيا، توماس باراك، سيتولى أيضا منصب مبعوث الولايات المتحدة إلى سوريا.
وكتب ترامب، في منشور على شبكة (تروث سوشال): “يسرني أن أعلن أن السفير الأمريكي لدى تركيا، توم باراك، سيعمل أيضا بصفته مبعوثنا إلى سوريا”.
وأضاف أن باراك “يدرك الإمكانات الهامة للتعاون مع سوريا من أجل وضع حد للتطرف، والارتقاء بالعلاقات، وضمان تحقيق السلام في الشرق الأوسط”.
ويأتي هذا القرار في ظل انفتاح الولايات المتحدة على الحكومة السورية الجديدة.
وكانت الإدارة الأمريكية أعلنت، الجمعة الماضية، رفع العقوبات المفروضة على هذا البلد لمدة ستة أشهر، موضحة أن هذا التعليق سيسهل التزويد بالكهرباء والطاقة والمياه، وتعزيز الاستجابة الإنسانية في سوريا.
كما منحت واشنطن سوريا “ترخيصا عاما” يخول لمواطنين أمريكيين القيام بصفقات كانت محظورة في السابق بموجب العقوبات المفروضة على سوريا.
